HRM Uduma Obuba Kalu was born on 9th, February 1947 into the family of Late Chief Obuba Kalu of Umuola Kindred of Nde Odike Compound and Late Madam Nwandiya Obuba Kalu (nee Nkam Eunice Okwara Uma)of Nde Okowu Compound,of Umunnechi family, Amaekpu Ohafia, Ohafia Local Government Area, Abia State, Nigeria. He was the seventh male child of both parents and the last in line of his mother.

During his career in the Foreign Service, HRM Uduma Obuba Kalu was the only officer sent to open two Nigerian Missions - BATA, Equatorial Guinea and PRETORIA, Republic of South Africa and had unblemished Records.
HRM, Uduma Obuba Kalu retired from the service on 9th September, 2007 and finally returned to his hometown, Amaekpu Ohafia in November, 2007.
